Often referred as paediatric dentistry or pedodontics is a branch of dentistry dealing with children's oral health care from birth to adolescence that is from birth to 14 to 16 years of age.

Why your kids need a dentist?
Humans have two sets of teeth -primary set of teeth also called as milk teeth & permanent set of teeth. Milk teeth start emerging at the age of 6 months. Parents often tend to ignore the dental problems of their children thinking that the milk teeth will fall off,but problems and diseases related to milk teeth may lead to permanent teeth injuries. Hence it is very important to start taking care of babies' teeth at early stages of their lives by routine dental check up by visiting to a dentist regularly.

They provide oral health care to your child by- Oral health examination- early oral examination aids in early detection of tooth decay and activities and diseases related to children and provide treatment for the same.

Assessment of dental injuries- children in the age group of 1 to three years sustain injuries to milk teeth frequently and children in age groups of 8 to 11 years sustain injuries to permanent teeth therefore assessment and treatment of dental injuries is necessary this includes fracture tooth that is root and crown fracture ,injuries to periodontal tissues including displacement of tooth. Assessment and management of gum diseases that is ulcers,bleeding gums, gum discoloration, bad breath.

Treatment for aligning teeth and correcting bites Monitoring growth and development of teeth and jaws Oral habit examination- children often develops aberrant habits which needs to be changed such as tongue thrusting, thumb sucking, lip biting, mouth breathing and bruxism(grinding of the teeth) to avoid further dental problems.
